Plant Manager


Job Description

The Plant Manager must have knowledge and understanding of all aspects of manufacturing processes, quality and facility requirements for tooling, fixtures, and jigs. He shall be responsible for monitoring all manufacturing operations and outside processes as listed below.

Reports To:  VP of operations.

 

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

 Tool and fixture processing and releases of BOM and prints

Purchasing of components, raw materials, subcontract services and related indirect costs as well as ensuring delivery.

Weld fabrication and related equipment.

Manual Machining and related and equipment

CNC machining, programming, and related equipment, inclusive of tooling, fixtures, jigs, and setups as required.

Assembly and build of the tooling, fixtures, jigs.

CMM and Laser Tracking certification of the tooling, fixtures, jigs.

Responsible for all employees including fabrication assembly, machining, indirect-shipping , receiving and maintenance , processing,  CMM-verification,  ,and purchasing for assignment of work activities, schedules, health and safety  ,and employee  well-being.

Responsible for all the requirements of customer orders inclusive of quality , delivery and all other requirements  of the project , through communications with the program managers, and employee work schedules including outside suppliers.

Shall conduct weekly meetings with all floor personnel to discuss and recommend areas of departmental improvements, maintaining customer target delivery dates and work schedule hours.

Evaluate each shop employee’s performance and capabilities at specified intervals with the human resources department and determine if any hourly rate increases are warranted.

All employees’ related training and education relative to job skills. All records of the training and educational skills will be handed on to the human resources department.

Monitor all manufacturing quality processes and report any deviations with corrective actions to the respective program manager. The (SOP) Standard Operating Procedure documentation will be used as the guideline for maintaining all records in the ITS manufacturing of the customer tools

Review all Customer changes and discuss with the program manager prior to release for build to determine delivery date consequences.

Have an understanding of project values as it related to tooling , jigs and fixtures.

Review all progress reports, labor reports and shop order budgets for properly managing each job on the floor during the build time. Any discrepancies are to be evaluated and reported during WIP meetings.

Monitor the work environment, manufacturing processes, equipment and infrastructure of the manufacturing facility and take corrective action as necessary. All major concerns are to be discussed with the appropriate management team during the monthly Operations Meetings

All other  related duties and responsibilities as assigned by company management

 

Skills and Abilities:

 Interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.

Familiarity with tooling , fixtures , gages and jigs material and components.

Oral and written communication skills.

Analytical ability to recognize and solve fabrication , machining and assembly.

Training / Education:

Knowledge of health and safety requirements, for plant and equipment.

High school graduate or equivalent degree, plus additional training of six years of related work experience, in plant supervision

Familiarization training in computer systems technology
