Independence Tooling is actively seeking a CMM Operator to join our team!
Responsibilities
Report to the Independence Tooling Operations Manager.
Ensure manufactured and purchased parts conform to engineering specifications and drawings using a Hexagon CMM.
Mark up manufactured parts for finish machining operations as the manufacturing routing requires.
Provide subassembly personnel with inspection data when adjustments are needed to meet final accuracy requirements.
Verify that subassemblies meet the accuracy requirements specified by engineering specifications and drawings.
Create inspection reports from gathered data and process defective work tickets.
Assist the Quality Manager in creating quality packages, including all deliverable documents for specific jobs/projects (e.g., Cert reports, First-Article Inspections, Inspection Checklists, R studies, or R & R Studies).
Qualifications
Minimum of 1 year of experience operating a CMM machine and using CMM software for programming and inspection.
Proficiency with Polyworks (highly preferred) or similar software (e.g., API/Verisurf, PC-DMIS, Spatial Analyzer).
Ability to read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings.
Background in defense, automotive, or aerospace industries is required
Willingness to help out in other areas during downtime and support other shop machinery, such as surface grinders and Bridgeports.
Willingness to work overtime as needed, including Saturdays, with adaptability to fluctuating workloads.
Basic proficiency in Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) or the ability to quickly learn them.
Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and meet deadlines.
Excellent communication skills with customers, peers, and subordinates.
Preferred Qualifications
Extensive experience working with defense vehicles, focusing on tanks and heavy machinery.
Experience with Hexagon or Tarus CMM machines.
Familiarity with building and doweling fixtures.
Quality experience, particularly with ISO9001 and/or AS9100.
Experience with CMM or White Light Scanning is a plus.
Familiarity with FARO Arm is a plus
